Cheque presentation for Malachy’s Errigal challenge.

We were delighted that Malachy was able to join us at the NBCRI open evening on October 16th and present us with a cheque for the funds raised by his challenge. All funds raised for Charlotte’s Vision, in partnership with the National Breast Cancer Research Institute, will support research projects specifically for metastatic breast cancer, at the Lambe Institute in Galway.

The evening celebrated the outstanding efforts of fundraiser Malachy Doyle, who climbed Mount Errigal 12 times in 24 hours earlier this summer, raising an incredible €12,298.50. On the evening Malachy shared Naomi’s story with the audience, highlighting the need for research in this area.

The emotional challenge, completed in July, was inspired by Malachy’s daughter Naomi, who is currently undergoing treatment for metastatic breast cancer in Wales. Driven by a deep desire to help and make a difference, Malachy came across Charlotte’s Vision and decided to support the charity through an endurance feat that captured hearts across Donegal and beyond.

Climbing through the night with many supporters, Malachy completed 12 ascents and descents of Mount Errigal, skipping across the finish line on the final climb with determination and joy. His effort drew support from passersby, hikers, and locals who were moved by the cause.
