On July 12th Malachy Doyle and a number of his friends took on the challenge to climb Errigal, a 751 metre mountain in Donegal, as many times as possible within 24 hours. Malachy’s daughter Naomi, who has two young children is currently receiving treatment for metastatic breast cancer and Malachy wanted to raise money to fund research specifically into metastatic breast cancer research. He reached out to Charlotte’s Vision and we were delighted that he chose our charity to support.
On an exceptionally hot day, the challenge began. Vergie, Helen, Dec and Catherine represented Charlotte’s Vision on the day with Dec, Catherine and Helen tackling the mountain themselves. Well done to Malachy and others who managed 12 climbs in 24 hours. It wasn’t easy in the heat! The support for the event and for the the fund raising was incredible. All money raised will be spent on research into metastatic breast cancer research in partnership with the National Breast Cancer Research Institute.
