We are all so proud of our chairperson Caroline who achieved the Galway person of the year award for her services to charity. Caroline worked tirelessly to getCharlotte’s Vision up and running. It was only a month after Charlotte died when she said ‘we won’t forget her, we must do something to honour her memory’. Caroline approached the National Breast Cancer Research Institute and secured their agreement to work in partnership with them but channel the funds we raise specifically to metastatic breast cancer research.
As soon as agreement was reached, she set the wheels in motion to get a committee together and start working on the launch of the charity and our first fund raising event. Caroline has given generously of her time – she is always full of ideas and enthusiasm and thoroughly deserves this recognition.
Caroline was nominated by Charlotte’s Mam Virgie who said ‘Caroline’s foresight, dedication and compassionate actions had a profound impact on Charlotte during her final weeks at home and additionally her work with Charlotte’s vision has been a beacon of hope and progress for the future in the ongoing fight against metastatic breast cancer. She is truly deserving of the highest recognition and a Galway People of the Year award’.
